spoiled is so subjective
i see ppl saying theyre spoiled all the time and i think like, "...really? you think so..?"
to me, being spoiled is more so about getting money and material things in excess over just being able to be all wild and do what they want.. they both play a part though.. but its more so about the material things to me.
minimal rules and structure alone does not equal spoiled

Scenario 2 is totally my life!! I agree with the posters mentioning that it's ok to give things and praise, but there has to be boundaries. Kids have to know that actions have consequences, the concept of earning what they have and being appreciative-- knowing that not everyone has what they do. Parents have to do their job and be teachers.

Spoiling doesn't always mean they don't deserve it IMO

Mine are to an extent- they're not brats and work hard at their grades as well as chores. They'll go to college and not have to worry about paying for it themselves and have a car.

IMO there's nothing wrong with spoiling your child. However I feel like sometimes it should be when it's deserved and the child should still know that they have to actually earn what they are given. That way they don't feel like the world owes them something or that they deserve everything they want just because of their very existence.

I really have no idea...I spoil the hell outta mine...BUT I do not tolerate entitlement. There is no "gimme" "attitude" "I am better than".....etc. I have good boys, though. But yeah they are highly spoiled. As long as attitude, grades, respect, and growth is there, so are the luxuries.
| I agree, mine are rotten lol. There isnt't much i can't or won't do for them. BUT - they must toe that line, and they know it.

| Yes indeed, life will be hard enough when they are grown and in the world. In the meantime, let mama and dad handle that.

i was bad and i really needed to get smacked, hard.. many times. i did what i wanted. and i definitely didnt know the value of a dollar. i was stupid as hell with money but always felt like there would be more so i basically threw it away.
