So I have my hair in natural box braids, no extensions added, and I've had them in for 4 days now. I realized that I haven't DC'd in about a month, so I decided to DC overnight. I have some Mixed Chicks deep conditioner and the first time I tried it, I honestly hated it. I thought it was a waste of my money. So last night, I just wet my hair a little in the sink (i did not shampoo first) and added a heaping amount of Mixed Chicks to my hair. I then added some grapeseed, castor (regular), and coconut oils. I slept with a shower cap and left my DC in for 8 hours, no added heat. When I washed my hair out this morning, it felt like silk!!! I did not shampoo after or anything. If you have Mixed Chicks laying around, I highly recommend trying this!

I find that my hair likes to be DC'd for an extended period of time. No less than 1 hour.

I also do this with conditioners that i find are just so so. Mixed with coconut oil or just coconut oil by itself never fails.

Im new and wanted to try something on my hair with what I had so I just did an overnight oil treatment. I heated some olive oil, applied it to my scalp and hair, put a shower cap on and went to bed lol. I dont really feel too much of a difference but I can see that my hair isnt as dry as it was. I havent DC or done any hot oil treatments in months.

My hair feels better when my hair is braided than when it's loose.  I think the braids help to hold in moisture.  I can use the same products on loose hair and my hair will feel rough/dry.  When I use those same products in braids (individuals or cornrows), it feels so soft -- and I don't use nearly as much product!
