This is our first post on this forum, hope that someone can help us or give some good tips.
Our daugther is 4 y/o and adopted from Lesotho in the south of Africa.
She's been in our family about 1 1/2 years now, so she was 2 1/2 y/o when we got her.
Her hair was more or less shaved at that time, and we have been letting it grow ever since.
We find her hair growing extremely slow, it's now little bit more than 2 inches on the top of her head, but it's even shorter on the sides and in the back, i.e. not even 2 inches there.
We are using proper (at least what we think) shampoo and conditioners, and comb the hair at least twice a day using the Tangle Teezer. We have tried several products, such as leave-in conditioners and oil, but the hair still seems to grow incredibly slow.
We (the parents) are from Scandinavia, so we have no previous own experience from Afro hair, but we have of course tried to learn as we go, reading on forums and discussing with other people with more experience. Nobody can really say why this is and what else we should do. This is where we really hope that someone here can help us better!
We can of course post some pics of her hair here if it would help, just shout out in such case.
Her hair is VERY thin and extremely curly (I mean really small curls), and the hair breaks quite easy.
Don't know if this text can explain her hair type.
We were also told that in Lesotho that "she's mixed", and for some reason we didn't ask more about it at that time, and we are unsure if this refers to her being bi-racial or if this can mean something else...
All help is much appreciated.
