This show has really awesome actors.
The dialogue feels so fluid.

Take Black Cindy she acts and feels like the cousin you have that plays too much but makes laugh.

Then there is Janae (track star)
She can't act worth a damn

Yep, I gave in.

They're even using "be" incorrectly. They could have brought in a black person to write their lines. This is pissing me off.

"She be lookin like Beetlejuice an shyt."

"She gon find out who she be messin wit!"

Umm that's how I use "be" in informal conversation...

Track star seems the least developed character wise. It might be due to her past that she doesnt fit right because we "know" how she was prior to this life. Its all been an act of sorts.

Naw man. I guess it depends on how they technically meant it but I don't think they mean it the way they're saying it. To me the first sentence would mean she looks like Beetlejuice sometimes. Not all the time. I'm pretty sure she should have just said "She look like Beeltejuice." And the second sentence should have been "She gon find out who she playin wit." Not "be playin wit" because she only played with her one time. So where does the "be" come from?

Say for instance if I say, "I don't like KFC, they chicken be dry." That doesn't necessarily mean it's always dry but it's dry when I go there so it's dry at least sometimes.

It sounds crazy but "be" really does have a specific meaning in ebonics. When white people try to imitate it they do it wrong. This just sounds wrong to me.

I love the analysis lol.

OK let me think... ok I got an example
I would say something like "She be trying to play me"
I say it like that.

Does that sound right to you?
