How long do you leave the oil in? Or do you just put it in and rinse it out?

You can put it in and rinse out, I say no less than 2 mins....but the longer you leave it in the better, you cant really go wrong with it...

I did an oil rinse on my leave-out yesterday. It was soo nice. I had barely any shed hairs and no breakage (from what I could see anyway). I only comb/style my leave-out every 3-4 days, so I was pleased. I used a mix of EVOO and Jojoba oil, with jojaba oil being the majority of what was used. My hair was so soft, and I had ZERO single strand knots which my curly jungle is prone to LOL

Thanks for this Nicka!

Your welcome hun, im glad it worked for you!!

Missthickum im glad it worked for you as well!

I agree with Kris.  Also I've notice the long I oil rinse, over time I need less oil.
When I started earlier this year and it was warm and dry ( that sf bay area weather, 70 degrees in feb. 45 in july) I used a lot on my thick massive cloud of  type 4 hair, probably a 1/3 of a cup. Now I can use about 2 tbsp because my hair doesn't get as dry.

Yup!!! the benefits can accumulate over time, with consistency...

i've been doing this for a long time.  i dont have an oil preference...just which ever is close.

and it does make detangling so much easier.  my strands are very fine, very coily,  and there's not a lot of them, so i have to extra careful when i comb thru and this helps a lot.

BACK IN MID MARCH 2010:

I've been doing the oil rinsing method for about a month and a half (i'm doing it right now too cuz it's Hair Day!), but I LOVE it!  Thank you lilnicka for the FYI on it!  It's made my 4b hair ALOT softer and easier to manage.  I do it all in twists and i've noticed less shedding and breakage with waaaay less tangles each time.  Right now I oil rinse with a combo of EVOO, a touch of tea tree and lavender oil. It's cut down on how long it usually takes to redo my twists because my brush just seems to glide through my hairSmile.

NOW (7 MO's LATER):

Oil Rinsing is definitely a staple of my routine.  After 7 months of doing this, I see that using this method helps with keeping my ends on my hair instead of on the floor (from all detangling and lack of slippage/moisture).  Currently, I'm using a EVOO only and also combining that, distilled water, Elasta QP DPR 11, and aloe vera juice as a daily spritz and it's working out splendid!

Thanks Again lilnicka for helping me Save My Hair lol!!
