idk if this is just a myth but i do hear that a positive thing about having oily skin is that it reduces the chance of getting wrinkles when ur old. many African American women have oily skin & so they tend to age more gracefully. any 1 heard of this?

I found this online:

skincare_expert: In general, oily skinned people do seem to end up with smoother, younger looking skin when they get older. (Meaning fewer wrinkles than someone with normal to dry skin). However, sometimes oily skinned people end up with scars if they had a problem with bad acne, which are still depressions in the skin. This isn't to say that only people with oily skin get acne, it just seems to be more common. If one dries out their oily skin with drying products thus producing more oil...well then I suppose they would still fall into the category of having less wrinkles when they age. However, that would be if there is no injury to the skin, such as severe sunburn, the use of too many drying agents, smoking and other issues that can cause wrinkles along the way.

"So if you are oily skinned and you use oils to alleviate oily skin (which normalizes it to not dry/oily) does THAT still mean no wrinkles?" I would say in general, yes. If I were to bet whether you with oily skin, will age better than someone with extremely dry skin (as long as there is equal free radical damage and are typical lifestyle similarities), I would put my money on you or someone with your skin type (even though you're no longer experiencing extra oil). There are quite a few brands who use oils, even in their cleansers.

Yes, it's true. Oily skin is usualy thicker than dry or normal skin so that helps too.

I am 25 going on 26, people tend to think I'm 20 or 21. My mom is 45 and she looks like she is 30. But I can get really oily so recently I'm all about oil absorbers, so I'm not sure if this would affect me aging gracefully Pinch
