For those of you that have been doing it for a while 6 months-year, how has it been working for you? Especially you oily/combo skin ladies. I'm thinking about trying it, but I love my african black soap for cleansing. What say you?

If you have oily skin, you have to be careful.  You can only use certain oils.  Some can cause you to break out.  I forget which ones.  I used a cleansing oil last week by a brand called Julep and it broke me out.  Here is a website I had saved regarding oil cleansing

ETA:  Just looked at the link again (hadn't read it in a while).  They suggest tamanu oil for people with oily skin.  My little brother swears by this stuff.  He used to have bad scaring from acne that would not go away even with fading creams and he was able to fade them with tamanu.

Not all oils are created equal and can break you out, so I'd suggest doing a lot of research regarding your skin type.

Be careful if you have sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts.  I have tried it on several occasions and my skin keeps breaking out from the recommended oils.  I just gave up and stayed with Cerave foaming cleanser.

Is this the method that you can use either olive oil or coconut oil? Because I tried coconut oil and at first my face looked great but after about ten days or two weeks and my face became really oily.
I have oily t-zone and everything else is dry.

Now I use African Black Soap which dries up the t-zone but gets the dry areas dryer. But it is not biggie since I just apply moisturizer.

I've done it since 2009. It's a staple for a reason!

I don't do the entire method, I mainly just use oil to remove makeup, but it really has done wonders for my skin.

Also castor oil which is a cleansing oil, is a must. You can mix it with other oils (I make mixtures of castor, olive, and jojoba with a few drops of tea tree oil) and the mix is perfect for my skin.)

But the base oil should be castor and whatever else you add should be whatever else your skin can handle.

Hm! I'm interested! I think it will be my after-wash oil because it's pricey for an oil.
