I had micro braids in my hair over the summer and took them out over labor day weekend. I had new growth and really liked the texture so I was like I'll try the 'natural' thing. Instead of doing the big chop, I just got the ends cut off and in an afro style. And loving it!

I oil my scalp every other night and every other morning put in some moisturizer .. The only thing I'm having trouble with is what to do with it at night. I've read that I should braid it at night to help it from getting tangled but some parts aren't long enough to braid - and some areas can be braided but won't really stay. Are there any suggestions or something that I overlooked for night-time care?

Thanks!

(Feel free to give me any suggestions and advice!!!)

Do you tie it up at night after braiding? I would braid the parts that are long enough, apply a little gel (or CD hair milk or JCS sculpt and curl) to the shorter parts and brush them down, then tie it all up. HTH

I would braid it smaller like a corn row braid-just the part that can't or won't stay braided . Then I would braid the rest as regular and defenitely tie the hair up in something (like a soft and silky scarf) that will stay in place while you are sleeping.

Are u sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase at night? This will help the moisture and natural oils stay in.

For the shorter fros, I sleep in one of those mens skull caps (I think they're nylon).  It works very well.  I also have a satin pillowcase.

I waited  till my fro was about 2 inches when I started braiding because I was lazy as all get out. I would make small sections and moisturize and seal with oil then take a bobby pin with the rubber ends or hair clips and pin it down so they stayed braided.

I do the baggie method over braids at night. But most of the time I'm in a protective style.
