Do you honestly think that every person living in the hoods of Chicago is encouraging this mess? @maysay |
Every person? No. The majority? Yes.
I'm basing this on my time rippin and running the streets with hood boogers and what I see in my work every day.
These same gangsters that are shooting up people have ebt cards. Whose address did they use? They have a place to lay their heads at night. Whose house is it? They go to cookouts, they go watch the game with they're buddies, they go get their dicks sucked by their baby mamas, and they keep their clothes and sh*t at their mama's house. They grow and sell drugs at or in front of somebody's house. People write their sorry asses when they're in jail and answer their collect phone calls. And it goes on and on.
All of that support makes it possible for them to keep doing exactly what they're doing.

I understand what you're saying, especially seeing as how its not coming from some suburban bougie point of view.
But what we have to keep in mind is that these thugs are not the majority so naturally when put in perspective, they and those supporting them only make up a small percentage of those living in these low income neighborhoods.
I don't know how deep you were in the trenches of the hood; whether you were just tagging along with your hood friends for kicks and giggles only to return to your safe, middle class home in the burbs or not. I don't want to assume. But if you are in fact FROM one of these type of crime ridden hoods, you have to know that the hard working, honest and upstanding people, and innocent children are the ones that actually make up the majority.
These are the people worth saving.

I think everyone is worth saving, whether upstanding citizens or not. But the only ones who are innocent are the children.
The "upstanding" citizens are just as bad as everyone else. My point is that the community as a whole is supporting these murders by providing support to the perpetrators. It's not a small percentage...it's nearly everyone. Very very very few people are willing to take a real stand and tell these murderers no, you can't come to the baby shower/family reunion/bbq/superbowl party or no you can't keep your clothes/gun/pills at my house or no I won't put money on your books or no you can't use my address or no you can't sit on my stoop or park your unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed car in my driveway.
I lived in the hood, in foster care, and still work there today. I see this ish every single day and I'm honestly tired of it. People are in denial of the part they play.

No offense, maysay. But are you a special snowflake in your neighborhood? I sure as hell wasn't in mine.
I think moody made a thread about the mockementary Snow on da Bluff a while back. I mentioned that I lived in the Bluff(one of Atlanta's most dangerous neighborhoods) with my sister for almost 5 years.
All of our immediate neighbors got up at the crack of dawn to go to work everyday, church every Sunday. Looked out for one another like we were all family, cookouts, block parties, the whole nine...and NONE of us partook in any form of illegal activities, nor did we support or encourage it.
Although I didn't stray from my block outside of going to school or work, I'm not so naive to think that my block was not some anomaly either.
I have a headache so I can't get into much detail right now, but I'm sorry to say that your line of thinking is extremely narrow and I'm having a hard time understanding how someone FROM the hood could possibly believe that the majority of people living in the hood are a part of the problem rather than simply being victims and essentially hostages in their own communities.

I think it's the fear, the no snitching etc, that makes them apart of the problem.
