Considering how many TV appearances she does, I wouldn't be surprised. No one's hair can constantly endure heat styling and manipulation on a daily or even multiple times a week basis like what happens for TV appearances and such. You'd end up bald with 2 strands of hair on your head.

Yeah. I went to an event for the Tony's and this chick who played the lead in Bonnie & Clyde on Broadway said even from them clipping the mic under her flw they gave her ended up creating a bald spot. And this was basically a daily thing for her. I think she might have had one or two nights off a week. And she was white.

Is it impossible to keep hair on one's head while wearing their real hair out? Not in regards to Nicki Manaj, but just in general. I think the weave protective style thing is somewhat of a cop out tbh.

It's not impossible, but you have to be careful.
1. weather: extreme heat or extreme cold for those of us with low porosity or moisture issues can be the kiss of death
2.
hair rubbing against clothing: especially when you're in that SL to APL
length, you have to be careful as your hair rubbing against rough
fibers like wool can cause breakage...making you feel as if your hair
doesn't grow
3. Using too much tension: even if you PS, if you
let people braid your hair down like they're trying to give you chinky
eyes, you'll end up with damage. Likewise, if you're always bunning and
again pulling your hair back to "make your eyes chinese" you're going to
damage your edges especially.
I don't wear my hair out in cold
weather. I PS through the late Fall through early Spring until the
weather evens out. And I stick to pretty low manipulation styles and
very rarely use heat except for about a 2 - 3x a year length check.
ETA: I'm natural. So wearing my hair straight isn't easy to maintain. So I don't normally do it except for around length check time.
