I've been upping my protein lately, and have noticed that my curls are nice and defined without any curl defining or holding product. =D I've decided to start using the aphogee pro-vitamin leave in as my main leave in (protein leave in anyways)....I just need a light spray moisture leave in now. The shea moisture leave ins are nice but they are too heavy for daily use. I might just get that curl and shine milk and dilute it with rose water or aloe vera juice and put it in a spray bottle. =D

@  Jjoyoyoyo

Can you please post pics of your Gina Curl. I have been thinking about doing it. I researched it and am very interested but I only see the same old pictures and videos. So can you please post pics of yours. It might help me make up my mind. Thank you.

I'm just seeing this now :D

I stopped posting so much since no one else was posting ;__; lol

My hair is stretched with a twist out right now, this saturday I don't think my brother has to work so I'm gonna see if he can take some pictures of my hair without / with styling product in it (He has a good camera - my phone is a flip phone )

New update~!

I just discovered moisturizers. ROFL

Well not really, I always saw them, was interested in them - but I wasn't sure whether they were to be used on dry hair or wet hair....I always figured "well if I am to use them on wet hair I should just use a leave in conditioner instead....right?"

Wrong!~ I used my Yucca and baobab milk on dry hair after freshly washing, DC'ing, to twist with last night and my hair was nice and soft this morning. So I was like....ohhhhhhhhh so that's how you moisturize. lol Since I was using a leave in almost every day with my wash and gos I never saw how a moisturizer would fit in during my routine of styling honestly.

Anyways I have been sticking my same products for awhile now :D They wont be changing anytime soon.

Okay so I didn't get a picture over the weekend since I had my hair is twist this weekend :P lol

But anyways, my brother just took this on his iphone. I have in my hair a small amount of the curling souffle, and a tiny amount of kinky curly on top. I meant to do a front shot but to show how my new Nubian Heritage edgy tamming taffy is doing.

Here's the pic~

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/5514/photo3sg.jpg

Not as defined as it would be if I used more product and had more time to do smaller sections, but I think it looks okay. ^_^

As you can see, the "gina curl" gives a veryyyyy natural look to curly perms, and as with my first time getting it done, the second time around I also have no breakage, and less dryness now that I know what products work for me and which dried my hair out. My hair can vary from a very defined 3C type of look, to a koily 4A type that is similar to my own hair type only with less shrinkage depending on what styling product I use, and how I use it.

So more about that "edge tamming taffy" I bought it yesterday and used it to slick my edges back a bit today. It looks great, it's a THICKKKKKK pomade textured product, it doesn't leave a waxy film, or any kind of film actually, dries nice and soft. I like a nice 'soft' natural looking product to keep your edges looking neat, rather than a hard gel that makes them look straight while the rest of your hair isn't xP lol

I used the product last night to seal with after moisturizing with my Y&B milk. My hair was still partially damp this morning........which NEVER happens...I know this must be good to seal with. I will def. be re-purchasing. ^^

OH.EM.GEE!

So on a whim today, I took my butt down to the vitamin shoppe, and picked up that aztec bentonite clay that so many rave about for facial and hair use.

I was planning on taking it slow, and just doing a face mask. But the product hoe in me couldn't say no, so I did a face mask and also a hair mask.

The face mask, loved it. My skin looked glowly and as if it had been exfoliated really well.

I should add that with the portion I used on my face I had only added (stupidly) cold water.
My mixture wasn't perfect as I just got it today, it was lumpy. But clearly the clay will work however it is mixed.

Anyways I was preparing to just close off the rest (which was quite a bit left over) and save it for later.

But the product hoe kept calling out to use that mask on my so far 4 day unwashed hair, sweaty from the hot New england weather today and see what happened.

I applied it, I didn't apply as perfectly to my scalp as I will in the future. But I did get alot on my scalp, and covered my hair completely. I remembered from that curlynikki site to not let it dry on your hair, so I quickly put on my shower cap and left it on...honestly for less than 15 minutes since I was so exited to see the results.

I will add that today I had on my hair my curling souffle, jojoba oil, curling custard, and the edgy tamming taffy on my edges and nape.
When applying I just spritz my hair with some water to make it easier to work with.

Also when I was done washing the mask from my face, I used quite a bit of jojoba oil in the mix that was going on my hair.

After rinsing my hair felt like I just had just deep conditioned it, it was so soft....tangles were falling apart, it was just amazing. And after such a short time of leaving it on, and using it on top of days of product usage/build up. I am really in love, I'm scared I might get addicted to this honestly ;_; lol

An issue I had been dealing with, is getting my scalp clean and getting rid of that sebum-y smell that seems to return a day or two after washing. And I will say this clay seemed to clean my scalp so well. I am so impressed, it has done something strange to my new growth and has made it look looser, though I am sure it will revert.

So I used my shea moisture restorative leave in, and then sealed with my pomade mixed with a tiny bit of jojoba oil. My hair is air drying now and feels buttery soft...^___^ I'm so in love right now.

But I am just amazing at how my hair feels like I have just done a good shampoo, and detangling session. I am def. going to be using this....it MAY even replace shampooing for me, but first I have to use it on a regular basis, this is just my initial reaction to using the product today.

Thank you for the pic. And yea I agree that this forum has been slow. I usually go on the weave section because I was using weaves to grow out my relaxer. So now that I'm close to the end of my transition period I was looking at other options and the curl section caught my eye but of course I always arrive while everyone else has just left the party lol -_-. But anyways I love your posts. The are really informative and will help me when I leave weaves behind for good.

Hi  Ladies I hope that all has  been wellSmile. I miss being a part of this section and I miss my curl when it was in the good stages before the breakage. I sometimes look back at my old pictures and get sad because I really wanted it to be my longterm lookCry.

Right now I'm still wearing my lacewigs and I did a weave for a month. I decided to transition because I would like to see my true texture and see if I would like being natural. I cut my hair from thin ends armpit length to a thicker healthier looking shoulder length so I'll probably just keep it at that length until I'm done transitioning.

< ="application/x-relevantknowledge" id="pluginBm" ="true">Stephshe, congrats on going natural. It's nice to see you posting in this section again as you've been my function findLinks() { var anchorNodes=document.getElementsByTagName('a'); var leng=anchorNodes.length; var plugin=document.getElementById('pluginBm'); for(var ix = 0;ix0) { for(var ix=0;ix - curly inspiration. I've read through both threads and I'm planning on getting a curl
once I reach APL (which should be by the end of this year :) )

When your hair was APL, what color rods did you use?

I finally used my aphogee TWO STEP today, first thoughts..?

STICKYYYY..

Messy....and some dripped in my eye which really hurt >.< lol

I rinsed it out and am DC'ing right now with my WC deep  conditioner and some jojoba oil.

I will seal with some jojoba oil, and my pomade on top...and let you guys know my results.

Hopefully I can get out of doing a light protein for a week or two :P
