Ahhhhh I am in love with this curling souffle, my curls are so shiny, soft, defined, and bouncing......I used it today with my usual routine that I use with my curling custard..
Wet hair in shower, apply...
My shea moisture yucca & baobab milk
Shea moisture curl & shine spritz
My castor oil on my edges, I use only castor oil on my edges everyday to keep them moisturized and protected.
*section hair in four large sections*
Applied my shea moisture curling souffle to each section.
And then most of the time I will scrunch a little of the curl & shine spritz into my hair after just for some extra moisture. =D
God my hair feels good....I reallyyyyyy like this souffle man! lol xD I love how it gives hold and definition but it doesn't even FEEL like it has hold....hm....I really like this^^;;
Tomorrow I am going to shampoo, DC, detangle really good and apply the souffle to my hair. And hopefully my bro will take pics on his iphone. =D I'm thinking pictures at the window in natural light show better than bathroom lighting lol.
I swear I'm about to switch my skin care products over to shea moisture...>.> I already use their african black soap for my face, and their baby "head to toe" for my face.
I need to get their lotions, body soaps and scrubs now xD lol

OMFG.
NUBIAN HERITAGE.
NEW HAIR PRODUCTS.....*dies*
AHHHHH....I am so excited, man I can't wait to get my hands on this ish...
Okay so, nubian heritage which I'm sure everyone has heard of is the "mother" company and shea moisture (my fave line) is a branch from that line. Anyways nubian heritage usually is focused on skin care, soaps, lotions, etc. stuff like that. While shea moisture was about hair 90% of the time.
So now nubian heritage has been creating these multiple hair care lines that are just hitting stores now. I saw some in target and my silly self thought this brand was ripping off shea moisture xD lol
They have their usual natural, paraben, mineral oil, bad crap in general free ingredients....but they have more PROTEIN focused products, even a product with keratin. There is a honey and blackseed line I saw on their facebook with a wrapping mousse that I think is for rollersetting then wrapping your hair.
Theres a keratin oil serum....a detangling product....I CANNOT WAIT T__T

So I'm getting ready for work now, my hair is fully dried.
I upped my amount of the curling souffle today just to make sure it lasted and dried right.
And the product still doesn't feel oil or sticky o_o
I'm really starting to wonder what all the negative reviews were about...lol....people must use handful sizes of gel to get an oily or sticky feeling honestly, esp. those of us with full looking hair but FINE strands that product sits on easily. >.<
I really really like this stuff ^^
@Choogny.
The price was 11.99 I think, it's a little high but I am just glad I am not paying almost 20 bucks anymore for that tiny curling custard gel.^^;;

o.0 it is??? wow >.<
Maybe you can order it online from a US website like walgreens? I know I can order clothes and stuff from a foreign site like ASOS...but iduno the prices may be lower if they convert it based on my location..hmm..I never noticed XD
Anyways my third day now wearing the curling souffle out, my hair is still so soft, not oily and sticky feeling. It seems the less of the product I use the more shiny, defined, and fluffy it looks. That tells me that this product may build up easily if you go overboard on it, which explains all of the oily/sticky reviews of it.....gosh I can't believe I passed this product for so long based on the reviews >_< lol
I am really enjoying the 'free' feeling of my hair, it has movement, shine, a veryyyyyyyyyyyyy light hold, did I say SHINE???....and it smells yummy :D

My hair is so shiny and soft ;___;
gahhhh I know I keep posting this xD lol
But yesterday, I shampooed with my Yucca & Baobab shampoo, and usually I'll DC everytime I shampoo but instead I just put in a leave in, and applie the souffle to seal, I wasn't really trying to style it since I was just gonna twist it and go to bed. But I wanted to see if it kept my hair moisturized at night better than the castor oil.
I woke up to a as usual somewhat flat, but moisturized and super shiny twist out =P LOL
I just got done styling it for work, and it's just so shiny and soft...I just love it ;_; I work in a building that is either realllyyyy hot when it's cold, or has the AC full blast when it's hot outside so you guys don't know how hard it was to keep my hair nice and moisturized alllllll day at work. ^^;;

People have been asking me about "the curl" and are they available anymore.
My answer is yes, I remember seeing this thread before, but I did not read the entire thread, Well I did today. The comments brought back memories. I wore a "curl" for 3 years, with no problems. Friends and family that never had hair longer that their earlobe were growing hair due to the "curl" and the demand that we put moisture on it. I even had a curl before I got a relaxer. My hair grew a little past my shoulders thanks to the "curl".
Things I remember from the time of the "Curl"
There was always a certain amount of shedding. You would sleep with your hair covered with a plastic bag, and sometimes you could see shed hair in the plastic cap. However, your hair never looked as though it was thinning, until it got b/n sl and apl.
I understand that some women want to grow their hair to BSL with the "curl" but back in the day, you never saw anyone with a curl that was hanging down their back to BSL. Now people sported long curls, but it would be b/n SL and APL. That is what we considered a long curl.
Most women who let their curls grow that long, the curls became stringier and thinner. There were a few who had long curls that were still thick to the ends. But that was not the norm. When you got a retouch the ends were always cut at least a .5 or 1 inch each time.
So it seems as far as afro hair this particular perm was not originally made to wear hanging to your bra strap.
We rarely combed our curls, you always used your fingers. And the hair had to be kept moisturized. I do understand now they sell some women on a dry curl, but I do not feel this is the best for Afro hair. These are just my memories about my time with the "Curl"

Why do you think the 'dry curl' isn't best for afro-hair?
Not all afro hair is the same texture for one, so I'm not sure what afro-hair means. My brother has thick 3C hair, and I have tightly coiled 4B hair.
I've been natural for 19 years of my life, unlike many of these naturals that will be relaxing this summer or whenever the "trend" of "GOING natural" dies down I know my hair, it's texture and how it responds to just about any ingredient very well.
The dry curl is a one step perm, it just isn't a double process like a normal curly perm. Some people prefer that look to overly shiny, overly defined curls that usually don't look very natural. Not to mention the breakage that comes from double process curly perms. I should mention that my stylists, Gina, has done typical curly perms, jherri curls, relaxers, the whole nines for about 30+ years now.

I've found my perfect shampoo :D
And yes it is the one and last shea moisture shampoo that I had not tried previously. The curl and shine, pink label shampoo.
The smell is amazing, it smells like sweet coconuts. It doesn't strip and may even be less drying than the moisture retention shampoo.
And the shampoo has SLIP, not so much that I'd detangle with it alone but enough so that it doesn't create tangles at my roots.
I bought it earlier today and used it as well. I love it <3 it's like the moisture retention shampoo only with slip, and a girlier yummier smell :D
My hair is so soft now >.< I used my shea moisture restorative leave in condish, sealed with a little castor oil and then a tiny bit of the curling souffle. It dried so big and fluffy. I am so happy to have my staples ;___; lol
