I wonder if Native Americans were just upset to see a part black man sporting their gear aka sullying their image. I don't believe natives claimed those mixed with black generally speaking. You know we're always left out in the cold.

It's like blackface is for black people. It's the history of bigotry behind the act more so than the actual act.

Ok. I get this. I was also wondering what was the big deal??

I guess it's the same as those athletic teams that still use their attire for their symbols/mascot.

Ok I'm not the only one.

If I wear some ankara fabric or decide to have a traditional Nigerian/Kenyan/Ghanaian/etc wedding...would I be wrong?

the difference is the headdresses aren't fashion... they're related to battle and are considered sacred parts of their culture (I'm no historian but yeah)

I get that. But if he's saying it's his culture then he has a right to wear it for fashion or whatever reason, right?

He has the right to do whatever he wants...but people will call him out for being ignorant whether it's his culture or not.  Not just anyone gets to wear that headdress and I know he hasn't earned the right.  He messed up either way.

You noticed that too? I thought his apology would emphasize his Native american heritage. Well....at least he was able to give out a real apology this time.
