Have you ever been told by a family member or a friend to stay away from dating a person of  a particular  occupation?
Never date someone in the military
Never date a cop
Never date a stripper
Never date a drug dealer, etc

Did they give you reasons? What are they?

Did you do it anyway? What was your experience?

never date an islander. "U see what that man did to your cousin Nette.  All of them are like that.  Crazy and possessive.  They will beat you and the police won't help you. They'll put stuff in your food and put the hoodoo on you."  don't even go to the islands if u do date/marry an islander because they can snatch your passport and keep u there on some "not without my daughter" type sh*t.  this was told to me by my gramma.

I've never been told about specific occupations but I have been warned about certain characteristics/morals
