Whenever I braid my hair( loose braids and without extensions ), the plaits seem to defy gravity and rise. Even when I tie them down at night, they go up a minute after I take of the scarf. Because of this, I have to wear beads to weigh them down and if I take out the beads even after a week, the braids still go up. Does anyone have the same problem? Is it my technique? Is it because I have thin strand hair? Is it because my hair is short? TIA

ETA: this happens when I plait my hair in fine braids. With thick braids, they stay down, but thick braids don't look good on my short hair. I see people with fine braids and they don't behave the way that mine do.

i think it may be the direction in which u braid your hair. do you braid upward? or do you braid in the direction you want the braids to go? does this make sense

Thanks for the response! I should try wetting them and see what happens. And yes, they curve and don't lie flat.

how short is your hair? i've always seen this happen with NL hair-but some persons' own stay down. do you do them while wet? try that, probably add a few rubber bands and tie them down overnight or when you're at home.

Let's just say that it's too small to be put into a ponytail, but it will soon happen. I do them while dry, in fact I'm doing them right now. Perhaps i'll do them while my hair is wet another time.

OT: Which school's uniform is in your avatar? Is it Wolmers? I'm not all that familiar with town schools.

back to your hair, don't comb when dry-too much breakage and damage ca happen. hope you use a moisturizer or braid spray.
