Hi, everyone. I rarely post anymore, only lurk. But I'm in a dilemma. I
just tried to make jollof rice for my boyfriend who is Nigerian and I
will say that I failed somewhat miserably
He said it looked and tasted good, but the rice was sort of hard. My stomach got upset from eating the rice.
He's trying to make me feel better. So, then I tried putting more water and the whole thing is just mushy and unedible. Thank the Lord I didn't try to bring it to his family.
got the recipe from a coworker who is not Nigerian but married to a
West African. She makes her using the oven, but I saw that online most
people use the stove.
I have eaten jollof rice so I knew what I
should have gotten, but even my nigerian friends tell me that it is
definitely an art to make, not very easy. I come from a Jamaican
background ( which hard enough to cook). I'm pretty good with recipes, so I don't know where I went wrong with all of this, but I just wanted to make a few things from his culture since he's always to eating from mine.
I'm hoping someone could give me there go to recipe for jollof rice. I refuse to give up!
