This.

I think that they may straighten their hair to trim so that they can get it even so if they decide to wear it stretched or straight (blow dried or flat ironed) in the future it won't be an uneven jagged mess.

I blow dried mine straight earlier this year to see how much length & shrinkage I had and gave myself a nice trim. It was cool to see how it compared to my relaxed hair from years ago.

My natural hair is chemical free 2 yrs . I must bring out the old fashion pressing comb to blend . Kinks and Indian hair is not a good look lol . I like to press out all of my hair after a take down to see my growth.

This.

If you go back and forth between being straight natural vs curly natural, then it's your prerogative. As long as you're not hopping in my head with bad heat practices and craziness, I'd be lying if I said that I care about what someone else is doing with their head or the potential reasoning behind it.

being natural and wanting to wear your hair straight sometimes isn't an issue to me.
Just another style to have.

personally, i don't get the obsession with constant trimming period.  i never did it all that much when i was relaxed either.  my hair still grew and grew and grew and i didn't/don't have scraggly ends either...

but i guess people have different experiences...

I agree with them^ I'm 1 year post bc and I have the urge to blow dry my hair to see how long it actually is.  Why do I care how long it is?  Because it's my hair and I want to see all of the progress that I've made.  I'm petrified of heat damage though.

Yall still saying people who like their hair straight is basing it on a eurocentric ideal? When will y'all realize it is 2013 and not 1956?

I love my shrinkage and tight curls. I'm still learning the tricks. But I can stretch a lil and finger curls the ends when I don't want it too close to my scalp
