I have to say I really like this relaxer. I added less than a TBS. of oil to half of the container. I forgot to add additional time, so I am a little under processed, but that's ok. This relaxer did not burn and left my hair soft. I love it and it is a keeper.

Hawaiian Silky lye regular runs a very close second to it...

I am 4b hair type.

I just used this today and absolutely hated it :( It burned soooooooooo bad and left the back of my hair underprocessed. I remember trying it once a LONG time ago and forgot why I switched after that and now I remember! I used to use the no-lye but I know they switched the formula and it doesn't work on my hair anymore...what's a girl to do?

Can someone tell me the difference between the Organic Root Salon professional no-lye relaxer and the Organic Root Stimulator relaxer kit you get from the drug store? If both come in regular and extra strength what is the real difference btw the professional and the at home kit?

The professional kit (sold in the jar) is the lye relaxer, while the at home kit in the box is the no-lye. They just call the lye one the "professional" formula because most salons use lye formula relaxers, and most DIY-ers use the box kits.

Well their website says Olive Oil Professional No-Lye Relaxer System

I'll just be on the safe side and get the drug store box! Thank you for helping!

Never mind I've read this article http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/352470/is_lye_or_nolye_chemical_relaxing_better.html?cat=69

and i think the professional one is no mix.
b.) and No-Lye formulas which can either be mix or "no mix" relaxer formulas.
No lye relaxers, particularly guanidine hydroxide no lyes, will include an activator step---or a separate component to be mixed into the relaxer creme. These are the most popular no-lye formulations on the market. However, not every no-lye relaxer needs to be mixed. Lithium and potassium hydroxide relaxers are no-lye relaxers that are sold as "no mix" formulas.

I used this relaxer this morning. Except my dumb butt used extra strength and even with adding olive oil and a little condish I still experienced some burning. That sucker starting working QUICK! So next time I will definitely use regular. But I did like the way my hair came out, outside of the burning. I hope the regular works just as well. I won't be relaxing again until August so I can't review it until then.
