I am finally getting my hair regimine down! I am so excited! I mean, I figured out FINALLY how to get 1" a month, my hair feels thick for the first time ever, I come out of the shower with SOFT hair...

Only problem is that when I wake up in the morning, my hair is dry again. Yes, even if I put oil or shea butter over night, the hair is still dry. And I don't want to put oil in the morning because I HATE putting my head on things and seeing oil marks.

Is there any solution? I'm done with products... the only thing I use is Aphogee Leave in which helps, but if you make my hair wet, of course it will be softer...

maybe its the protein int he aphogee..my hair is/was the same way it was because i was using too much proteins and not enough of "moisture" ingredients..also maybe the oil and shea butter you are using is blocking the moisture from your hair..do you moisturize before throwing that on your hair?

I've been using them AS moisturizer. What else should I use instead?

What is the importance of a Humectant?

A humectant is used in hair care products to promote mositure retension. Humectants attract water from the atmosphere (hygroscopic) and binds itself to the hair shaft. Humectants are great for thick, coarse, kinky, curly dry damaged hair simply because it has a strong moisture binding capacity. Here are a list of some Humectants:

1. Glycerin
2. Honey
3. Propylene Glycol
4. Butylene Glycol
5. Sorbitol
6. Sugar Cane
7. Panthenol
8. Maltitol
9. Acetamide MEA
10. Hydrolyzed Wheat Startch
11. Sodium PCA

All of these ingredients help the hair absorb and retain moisture preventing dry (dry = breakage), frizzy, and poofy hair. Humectants help to rejuvenate, hydrate and make the hair more pilable. Look out for these ingredients in your products (esp. in conditioners & moisturizers) or when you get your next product junkie fix.
