My 14 year old daughter wants a sew-in. She wants to grow her hair out to but im not sure. She claims she wants a 10 inch or a 12 at the longest. I Really dont know what to do so I thought why not just ask BHM. If She does get on do you have any tips I could give her. But My Main question is should I because I  dont want her to grow up too fast and ive heard that sew-ins damage your hair.

Girl, my 14 yr old has been wearing sew ins for 2 years now. Mainly because she damaged her BSL hair in the 6th grade and we wanted to get back healthy. We cut most of the see thru ends and now its bra strap length. My only down fail is she wants to always wear them. She hates doing her hair! I say go for it.

The only damqge you could have it braids being too tight, or not properly caring for your hair under the sew in.

Sew in  do not damage hair
my little sisters are around that age and they do sew ins on each other
BUT
I think she can get some braids until her hair grows...back in my day (which wasnt too far way LOL) I used to wear cornrows, micros etc.
I dont know, maybe others will feel differently.

A sew in was the best thing that ever happened to my hair.

When I was younger I royally messed up my hair because I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I wore it in a tight pony tail every day which broke it off to bits. Since I've been wearing sew-ins my hair is much healthier, longer & stronger.

Sew-ins helped me go natural which is great because perms are so damaging to your hair.

Shooooot I wish my mom had given me a sew-in before I thought it was cool to blow bubble gum and stick it in my hair Ouch

I dont see a problem with it, just as long as the style is age appropriate its the best way to get her real hair back on point.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall;" id="jsProxy" ="">

Just make sure she takes care of her hair under the weave.
I don't have kids.. so I don't know how I would feel about it either..but hey its better than glue.

I dont see anything wromg with it. My 15 year old daughter has been wearing a sew in and it is growing her hair. Just make sure u take care of it( washing, oiling the scalp and not applying to much heat) and she should be fineSmile  hth

Hm. I'd say no.

Now, granted, I don't have any kids and maybe I'm old fashioned. But I just feel like that is too young.

Maybe braids with Indian bulk hair would be a bit more age appropriate and easier for her to manage.

She's high school age. I don't see a problem with it at all. I do have a 10 yr who wants a weave cuz of me and my weaves....she's too young now. I will continue to have her wear braids for a couple years.
