because long straight hair is more easy to manage.  i think that's why ppl relax in general...relaxed straight hair looks good but that silky stuff is crazy....i don't get ppl that aren't into relaxed and yaki textures.  usually its the coonish types that have that shiny silky plastic hair.

i aim for african american kinky/curly textures 8 times out of 10.

Shocked

i meant, i go for a more textured look than straight hair.  shuddup.

If you're going to rock a texture that isn't going to be easy to dupe with your leave out, commit to it, and do a whole head weave or a wig.

This is the straw man's argument, honestly

No one  said that EVERY SINGLE PERSON EVER, who straightens their hair and gets a nose job wants to be White!

We are talking about trends here

There's a reason beyond 'freedom of self-expression' that Black women straighten their hair in mass and "fix" their noses in large numbers

What do we look like trying to ignore the cause of that?

various reasons.

why does it have to be to look more like white people?

diff styles compliment ppls faces differently. Me personally, i look better with a side part or swoop bang. Should i flat iron my hair everyday? perm? or should i just stick to a style that doesnt compliment me cus it 'makes me look like im embracing my roots'

and ftr i dont like silky hair.. but i dont think the ppl that do necessarily do it to look more like white ppl.

most people don't want white barbie hair..
You already stated that many black women don't like their hair.. and I agree..
When you have tighter curls you have to deal with shrinkage.. When your hair shrinks it doesn't show length you actually have. Having long hair itself is seen a feminine.
With looser textures you can still see length... If most black women had hair like tracee ross and chilli from tlc i doubt you'll see as many weaves and flat irons..

the world being influenced by whites does not necessarily mean that most ppl who wear weave do it because of white standards of beauty though.
