A lot of people do be self hating though. Lets not ignore this obvious pink elephant.

because long straight hair is more easy to manage.  i think that's why ppl relax in general...relaxed straight hair looks good but that silky stuff is crazy....i don't get ppl that aren't into relaxed and yaki textures.  usually its the coonish types that have that shiny silky plastic hair.

i aim for african american kinky/curly textures 8 times out of 10.

Question

Have you ever lived in a world that wasn't influenced by Whites?

However, IMO it looks equally ridiculous when someone piles 20oz of kinky curly/yaki/kinky straight hair on their head. I mean, "do you", but it's not necessary to buy out the CV's entire inventory in order for your hair to look "full".

because ppl want to..? versatility... a diff look?

various reasons.

why does it have to be to look more like white people?

diff styles compliment ppls faces differently. Me personally, i look better with a side part or swoop bang. Should i flat iron my hair everyday? perm? or should i just stick to a style that doesnt compliment me cus it 'makes me look like im embracing my roots'

and ftr i dont like silky hair.. but i dont think the ppl that do necessarily do it to look more like white ppl.

Some black women look rediculous in weave because it doesn't look natural.

Sleepy

the world being influenced by whites does not necessarily mean that most ppl who wear weave do it because of white standards of beauty though.

Ok so black women love their natural hair and just use the opposite of how their natural grows and behaviors as merely a protective style.

I don't think that's the whole story but ok

I don't live in the bay though I can just speak for my leel ole town and that ain't the case a lot of the times here.
Though I know many natural women who have been natural for decades

And yes there is a connection with constant weaves and other alterations.
But since weave is an accepted medium ppl downplay it

I don't like silky hair when ppl try to blend it with their yaki/kinky straight leave out. At some point you need to look in the mirror and realize "one of these things is not like the other". But that's just a pet peeve in general.

If you're going to rock a texture that isn't going to be easy to dupe with your leave out, commit to it, and do a whole head weave or a wig.
