What about Orange County? It's a bit of a commute from LA but it's so much cleaner/prettier. I grew up there, didn't drive, and found OCTA to be a pretty efficient way to travel. OC has a reputation for being expensive but it really is comparable to LA. Actually, rent wise, I think it's better. I have friends who rent decent apts for around $1300 in desirable neighborhoods of OC. Most of our LA friends are paying at least $1900 if they are in a decent area. I have dark skin and have never found dating to be difficult out here. Lots of men, pretty beaches, great weather. Living in Orange County is pretty great all around. |
gurlah, that is a mortgage out east

Lol, I wish. Those numbers will get you IN a decent neighborhood but in a smallish apartment with no frills. A 2 bedroom with no frills and a tiny back porch can easily set you back $2500. It's hard to get good bang for your buck here but it is possible to find something decent and safe for around the $1500 mark. You won't have to slum it at $1500.

I heard that! I miss the ocean and the mountains, but now I can afford to fly there and see them without all the stress and the crazy freeways! But if you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere, lol. Everywhere else you live after LA, NYC, Detroit, will be easy peazy.

Remind me never to move to California. I'll take the houses for that price here in the south.
