Good schools=SMC or West La for community collegeGood neighborhoods= Palms, Culver City, Cheviot Hills, Brentwood, Westwood, Studio City, some parts of Sherman Oaks, Marina Del Rey, Valencia, Mt. Washington, and West Hollywood(more east is a lot of Mexicans). It is possible to get around without a car depending on how close u live to your school, job, and main streets. You could try to move in Palms, Culver City, or some parts of Cheviot so that u are in walking distance to either Venice Blvd, Pico, or National Blvd if you want to attend SMC.
Definitely save before you move because the cost of living in a good area is a little expensive and a car would be ideal. | All of this

Question are you in school? Do you have a degree? If not I hope that you have a plan B cause LA is to expensive to lived. For the dating scene in LA especially for dark skin women good luck with that one. I'm to sum it up LA may not be you best choice find another city.

*Taking notes*
I asked about dark skin experiences for the same reason we ask about traveling while black, its a different experience lol
& NOOOOO, I dont date American boys, too jaded.
But THANKS for all the feedback, sooooo LA doesnt seem so great, since i have no degree or car- my cousin cosigned half of what was posted. I'm thinking Oakland might be better. Seems like a cute little hipster town

I was born and raised in LA and every time I go home I can't wait to leave.
Yes the coast is beautiful and if you need the ocean, you will miss it. I like pasadena, where I went to hs, but really, its just a lot of subdivisions, that feel disjointed to me now.
Dallas is metropolitan, reminds me of LA, no ocean, but it is a great economy, lots of jobs and has a great rail system. And the mens all be trying to holla, even at an old brown skinned woman like me, lol. And its cheap.

My best friend is dark skinned and had lived in LA for 10 years...she stayed boo'd up..with light, dark and in between. I really can't believe this is an issue..it depends on the person
