So I decided to try starting strength since I've heard good reviews for beginners. And then move on to something else a little later.

yep

The more you work your muscles the higher your basal metabolic rate equaling fat loss

However you need to eat clean to get the best results ..

Sounds good. I've been counting calories/eating well and running for about a year now. Lost about 40 over the last year, but now it's kinda standing still, And Im getting frustrated.

Started calisthenics and felt good about it, so I decided weightlifting would be fun for me to change things up. Im deathly afraid of the weight room in the gym though. lol. I need someone to go with for the first few times.

I get a lot of help from reddit if anyone is interested. The forums are cool and help me stick to stuff (even though they have their downsides).. but the faq section on the sides are very, very helpful for anyone who's wondering what how to do something. I use:

http://www.reddit.com/r/loseit/ <---- their main model is calorie counting on an app/website.
http://www.reddit.com/r/fitness <--- very helpful. they really advocate weight lifting
http://www.reddit.com/r/xxfitness <---for women specifically
http://www.reddit.com/r/1200isplenty <----People post what they eat daily while calorie counting

Also I specifically used couch to 5k (http://www.reddit.com/r/c25k) back when I did that, and then transitioned to the running reddit when I could run a 5k easily. (http://www.reddit.com/r/running/)

Also: http://www.reddit.com/r/progresspics <-progress pics uploaded by users (this is for people trying to lose and gain weight)
http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/ <--- I dont do keto but people swear by it.
http://www.reddit.com/r/paleo <---- People swear by Paleo as well.

whole foods. real food. unprocessed

it may be different things to different people, but to me, i'd add things like fruit and beans/legumes, nuts to the list.
