The 12 year old could probably give you some pointers since the type of parent that would bring them to an adult function is the type who has low standards when it comes to child rearing.

Unhappy Maysay that is reaching.

What type of adult functions are y'all talking about? Like sex parties or something. I don't think I would mind a child at a dinner unless its like girls night out or something like that.

I mean, that's cool and that's great, you should spend as much time as you can with your kid when they're this little. I just wouldnt invite you out past 5pm.

Babies/kids and happy hour dont mix.

Exactly!  A restaurant is not a strip club!  Children need to know more than Mcdonalds and KFC.  We often take my daughter to grown up restaurants.  She appreciates good food.  If we ourselves want to be out without her then we hire a babysitter.

I can't imagine what some of you find so offensive about a child sitting in a proper restaurant.

This isn't about you taking your child to a restaurant.
This is about having an adult event (couples dinner, girls night etc) and you bringing your child.

The OP asked about adult functions...not a family going out to dinner.

A dinner party that was specified adult only and will probably end after your child's bedtime? Not an appropriate time to bring your child.

An outing where a group of adults are going zip lining at an adult course or doing a strenuous hike? Not a time to bring your kid.

Ladies' mimosa brunch? No.

Only bad parents put their wants (ie hanging with friends) before their children's needs (age/development appropriate activities).

Yeah the OP said adult function, but she said restaurant. If y'all are just talking business at Olive Garden, then fine, I don't mind a kid sitting there. But if you're talking about oral sex at Hooters then no way
