I found these Homemade Hair Recipes on
Avocado & Egg Herbal Conditioner

1 Avocado

1 egg,

1/4 cup of oil of choice,

8 oz of strong herbal tea (mixture of yarrow, marshmallow, horsetail, rosemary and nettle).

Blend all ingredients.

Shampoo hair with a clarifying shampoo first, then apply conditioner, cover hair in plastic wrap and wrap head in a hot towel or a heating cap on LOW - another option is to exercise while you are conditioning. You just don't want the conditioner to get too hot or you will be picking scrambled egg out of your hair for days.

Let sit for 15-20 minutes, then rinse.

Follow up with an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse or a lemon rinse.

Quick Honey Shine Leave-In

Quick, simple and easy. Put 1 teaspoon of honey into 4 cups of warm water. After shampooing and conditioning (if you want to), and lightly patting dry, pour the honey mixture over your hair or put it into a spray bottle and spray all through your hair. Don't rinse out. Style as usual.

Honey Pre-wash Treatment

Before a shampoo, use this special treatment to condition the scalp and repair damaged hair. Use regularly if your hair is dry or ends are split.

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 teaspoons honey

5 drops rosemary, lavender or geranium essential oil

You will also need:

a small cup

a ceramic or glass bowl

a small stainless steel spoon

a plastic shower cap

and a comfortably hot towel

1. In a cup sitting in hot water, warm the olive oil and the honey ( or you can use the microwave for heating - be careful) Stir in your choice of essential oil and mix well.

2. While the mixture is still warm, apply it all over your hair, massaging well into the scalp. Cover your hair with the shower cap (or large plastic bag) wrap the towel around your head and leave on for 10-15 minutes. For severely damaged hair, leave on up to 30 minutes.

3. Remove the towel and shower cap, and wash your hair with a mild shampoo or baby shampoo.

Makes enough for one application

Honey & Apricot Oil Hair Treatment

This treatment helps reduce the dry frizzies and helps the hair maintain moisture.

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon apricot oil

Wash your hair as normal.

Mix honey and oil together and apply to freshly washed  hair.

Leave it on for about 15 minutes with a towel wrapped around your head, or a plastic wrap for deeper conditioning.

Rinse off and style as usual.

Olive & Jojoba Hot Oil Treatment

I use this treatment once every two weeks as a very rich conditioning treatment. You can do it every week if you want even more conditioning and you can afford the jojoba oil. It's expensive unless you buy in bulk. Try for somewhere to buy it in bulk. You can use olive oil from the supermarket. I use regular olive oil, not extra virgin. EV has too much of a smell compared to the regular cold pressed olive oil. You can always add your choice of EO to mask the smell if you want.

Mix at room temperature

30ml olive oil

Essential Oils:

15ml jojoba oil

5ml sweet almond oil

Place all ingredients in a plastic bowl and place into a larger bowl of very hot water. Test the oil mixture with your finger, when it is quite warm but not hot, apply it generously to your scalp. Pour the remainder directly on your hair. (use on dry to almost dry hair, not wet hair)

Cover your hair with a plastic cap or like I do, wrap some Saran Wrap around your head a few times.

For the next hour, hope no one comes to visit unexpectedly because you need to leave the plastic on your head for at least an hour while the warm oil and your body heat opens the hair cuticle and soaks up the oil.

To rinse out, put shampoo directly on your hair, (don't wet your hair down first) and work into a rich lather. Rinse then continue your routine as normal.

Horsetail & Molasses Conditioning Treatment

1 tablespoon molasses

1 teaspoon  horsetail glycerite or very strong water infusion of horsetail

1 egg yolk

1 teaspoon hemp seed oil

1 teaspoon jojoba oil

1 teaspoon wheat germ oil

4 drops lavender essential oil

1 drop rosemary (verbenone) essential oil

1 drop frankincense essential oil

2 drops self heal flower essence or Bach's Rescue Remedy essence

Mix together all the ingredients, stirring thoroughly.

Wash hair as usual.

Massage conditioning blend into your damp hair and scalp.

Wrap your hair with a plastic bag (grocery bags work well) or use a shower cap.

Leave the conditioning blend on your hair for 15 minutes.

Shampoo your hair as usual and rinse well.

Follow with a cool water rinse or ACV rinse.

Fresh Rosemary Herbal Rinse

This is a wonderful rinse that will bring out the natural sheen and low lights of darker hair shades.

1 cup fresh rosemary

2 cups boiling water

Steep rosemary in boiling water for twenty minutes and let cool.

Gently pour liquid over hair and work in.

Style as  usual.

Horsetail Herbal Rinse

Horsetail has been used for centuries as a hair growth herb. It stimulates blood vessels in the scalp and even produces a little lather. Horsetail contains a high amount of silica which is essential for healthy hair.

2 teaspoons of the dried horsetail

1 cup boiling water

Drop the horsetail into the boiling water

Remove from heat and allow to steep for 15 minutes

Strain the tea

After washing hair, rinse through your hair

then take this into your shower with you to

rinse through your hair after you shampoo.

Lather it in and leave it on your hair for five to ten minutes

Rinse well and style as usual
Scalp Tingling Pre-wash Treatment

Olive Oil-1/2 oz

Shea Butter-1 0z

Shea Oil-1/4 oz

Avocado Butter-1/2 oz

Virgin Coconut Cream or coconut oil-2 teaspoons

Essential Oils: Peppermint, Tea Tree and Rosemary- 10 drops each. Of course you can lessen the amount of EO you use according to your sensitivity. You may want to start with 5 drops each and see how it feels. Lavender is also a good one to use.

Melt and stir all of these ingredients together and refrgirate until firm. It should stay soft and buttery at room temperature.

My uses for it:

1. Pre-shampoo treatment (at least 30min before shampoo)

2. Hot Oil Treatment

3. Stimulating Scalp Treatment (massage for 5min)

4. Overnight Hair Treatment (make sure you cover your hair)

Natural Shampoo Base

This is the base I use for making essestial oil and spice shampoos. It makes 1/2 cup of concentrated shampoo.

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup castile soap

1/2 teaspoon of (extra virgin) olive oil

Mix together all ingredients and place into shampoo bottle.
