oh yeah in dc its  better to buy so you control your monthly costs based on interest rates and down payment.  there are always tradeoffsConfused

This is a tragedy, indeed. Low income housing in Cali still aint affordable. 1,000.00+ for a 1 bedroom. Seattle is about  $700.00-$900.00 depending on the area.

where in Seattle are you looking? Average tent here is anywhere between $900 and $1300, here you are better off renting a home. I struggled to find an apartment that was under $800 unless I was willing to live in the outskirts or some piece of sh*t place. rent here aint no joke either but our minimum wage is slightly higher that everyone else's.

For low income housing $700.00-$900.00 is the norm. I live in Renton, and my rent is $1300.00 for a townhouse in a gated community. I have a few friends that live in sh*t holes and still pay upwards of $900.00...smh.

Ok that makes sense, I just moved out of a sh*t hole that was costing me almost 900 a month. Great size, perfect neighborhood and wonderful view....with tons of black mold and broken sh*t. People are so desperate to live in the city they will accept anything and the landlords can charge whatever they want.

To me low income is still a bit pricey and I hate that they've made it mixed income. Got these yt people who can afford to pay more living in these places for cheap and bragging about their "good deal"

I think that, like NYC, it really depends on location.

Also, DC is much smaller and there's more competition for housing.

true... i know someone who got on an affordable housing list.. it took like 3 years but she finally got in and it was like 1,000. but normal rate was 2500 (this is in walnut creek, sf would be more) it was really nice apartments though.

i want to get on one of those lists. you just can't make more than like 38k.

I tried to sign up for low income housing programs when I was working and they told me I made too much. I was making 20k before taxes.

That's why I still live with my parents and will probably have to live here forever unless I win the lottery.

Hmm.. Maybe it's diff depending on the city or something..
Is affordable housing and low income the same?
I just know that one specific apartment building said she couldn't make more than 38k to stay there for like 1000 per month when normal price for 1 bedroom is 2500.
