Miley Cyrus Skipped VMAs After-Party to Record With Kanye West
How's this for an odd couple? Miley Cyrus and Kanye West are teaming up to make new music together and have already hit the studio to work on a few upcoming tracks, a source confirms to Us Weekly. In fact, the insider tells Us, the two skipped all the post-MTV Video Music Awards festivities in New York City to lay down a remix of West's "Black Skinhead." (Page Six was first to report the collaboration.)
"He was in a creative mood," the source says of the impromptu late-night recording session. "You know 'Ye: He does everything last minute and just decided to capture their energy and record right after the show. They decided that night."
The source notes that in addition to Cyrus' "Black Skinhead" verse, the pair "messed around with other tracks," some of which may appear on the 20-year-old pop star's new record. (The Disney alum announced earlier this month that her fourth album, Bangerz, would be released on Oct. 4.)
Cyrus' collaboration with the rapper and new dad (to daughter North, 2 months, with Kim Kardashian) came hot on the heels of another headline-making musical merger hours earlier -- between the "We Can't Stop" singer and "Blurred Lines" chart-topper Robin Thicke. The two were the talk of the town after their raunchy performance at the VMAs on Sunday, Aug. 25.
