I was just posting in rt about wanting something similar. Yes I could/would. As I'm a single (and don't really see that changing) person used to living in rooms, apartments and dorms, 400 sqft would work for me. I've never really been sold on sprawling space and if I had a home, wanted something from the tumbleweed tiny house company. Downside to this would be if I had visitors or family from out of town that wanted a place to crash.

Yes. But if it worked out, we would need more room.

i think that bloomberg had approved some program to convert some former subsidized housing buildings into micro apartments.

i think that they are ideal for people that dont want to have to take train rides from hell to commute into the city, for people that just finished college and for the average person that isnt trying to pay $2000+ per month for an apartment in manhattan.

i just googled and i see that the bloomberg program goes into effect in 2015. lemme do some research now. sheettttCool

here is what some people are paying right now for 250-300 sqft  in NYC:
http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2013/11/05/ten_of_the_tiniest_apartments_for_sale_in_new_york_city.php

this 275-square-foot studio on Macon Street in Bed-Stuy, asking $143,850. All cash required.

This For Sale By Owner in Soho, also 275-square-feet, is asking $295,000, or just over $1,000 per square foot. Good news: it has a bathroom. Bad news: the wall separating the bathroom from the kitchen is about three feet high.

This 300-square-foot studio in Yorkville is essentially a short hallway with a bathroom and a kitchen, but props to the brokers for the excellent and un-deceptive photography. It's asking $279,000.

On the plus side, this 300-square-foot studio in Murray Hill, asking $295,000, has three windows. On the minus side, there's only room for a mini fridge. On the plus side, the broker accidentally took a picture of himself in the bathroom mirror, and that's always funny.

Not for $950 I couldn't. Maybe 4 something at the most.

A nice full size one bedroom apartment in outlying cities (around here) can be had at six something. He trippin.
