I think it's true in a general sense...a person is only going to be as mature/responsible/adult/honest/etc. as the circumstances require them to be.

I think it's true to an extent. If you don't hold a man to a high standard (or whatever is acceptable to you) then you can't complain when he doesn't "act" how you want him to.

Conversely, a man will only jump through as many hoops as he's willing to do. If he wants to do and behave in a ratchet manner, he's not going to get with a woman who demands that he behave to a higher standard.
