Hey guys, I heard in an old post that Megatek is just as good as the protein reconstruction. Is that true? because I've been having split ends, breaking ends and they look thinner and are lighter in hue. I have a huge bottle of Megatek and I'm hoping I could use that to help strengthen my hair, until i get my hands on the reconstructor.

If the breakage is due to weak strands (ie protein deficiency), then Megatek will help.
But, if it's protein overload, Megatek will make things worse.

^^^ thanks:). I actually just got the 2 minute reconstructor packet (i didn't know they came in those) so hopefully that will really help my hair, and the megatek would help maintain a good amount of protein in my hair.

I'll try not to...I did the aphogee treatment last night followed with the aussie moist deep conditioner, and my hair felt much stronger and looked a bit glossier as well...I think my hair likes protein, because it was fine when i DCd with the ORS replenishing Pak once a week...I stopped doing that so that's probably why it got all wimpy...
but I will moderate with the megatek..it's mixed with JBCO oil so I don't think it would have as great an effect if it was by itself.

Purchase megatek online. You can go to amazon.com and find it there. It is a coat strengthener for horses, but can be used for humans. Because it is not sold for people there are not instructions of use for humans. Most people make up their own regimens. If you want a good protein treatment, I recommend the Aphogee 2 step protein treatment. This is a treatment used once every 6 weeks and it is set by using heat. This product is for people who are chemically treated, or whose hair is weak and breaking. It works.

How would one know the difference (defiency/overload)?

When your hair feels mushy you need protein.
