Black Issues are not the same as gay issues... and I don't like someone who is WHITE and their white privilege trivializing my experience.

I'm in Washington so Mackelmore is huge here.  That said, NPR did an interview where they credited him and other white rappers as being more socially conscious than black rappers.  That pissed me off.  Really?  I just can't with that.  

I wish he would have opened the song with, "If you are gay, you might think hip hop hates you." But in his own little way, he let us know HE isn't gay, but has a soft spot for the gays.  GTFOH.  

And, I like the song Embarrassed but I won't admit that anywhere else but BHM.  Black Star all day.  Both of them lol

could a popular black artist get away with this? No and Yes. They might get a lil support for the message but they'll not get monetary support.  It wouldn't be mainstream and it would not get play on black radio.
