I think she did something as well.  I don't think aging made those changes.

I love the contrast here.

For some reason the term "the colorless" keeps running through my head right now. LOL

Dandora schol renamed after Lupita Nyong'o

By By PKEMOI NG’ENOH Updated Friday, March 21st 2014 at 10:52 GMT +3

Lupita Nyongo

A private primary school in Dandora has been renamed in honour of Oscar star, Lupita Nyong’o.

Formerly Eagles Safe Hands Education Centre, the school will be known as Lupita Bright Stars Educational Centre.

Speaking to The Nairobian, the school’s founder, Alice Anyasi Shiangala said this was the only was she could celebrate Lupita.

“I decided to rename my school after watching Lupita’s father, Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, being interviewed by Jeff Koinange on KTN. I was touched by her story. She is a true star who deserves better recognition. She has brought fame to our country,” she said.

“I talked to my husband about changing the school’s name and he agreed. We are now working on the legal process, including replacing old signposts and banners.”

Currently, the school admits students up to class four and plans are underway to expand it.

It is but I'm in no place to judge

I don't know what it's like to be from an often invisible-to-the-world African country
Her image means more to some people than I can even fathom

you'd most likely identify with your particular ethnic group or tribe--I think we've had some kind of thread on BHM before

essentially, you don't "become black" till you reach the west..I think it was chimamanda adichie who spoke about something similar

exactly. Some people think it is an insult when an African doesn't come out right saying and proclaiming that they are black . When that couldn't be farthest from the truth.

Okay thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I think it is human nature for people to categorize themselves and each other and "clique up" in other words. We always have to find differences among ourselves. That's why I think even when the whole world has mixed to become the same color there will still be beef about something else we invent.

I'm actually getting Lupita fatigue, which I didn't expect to happen so soon. It's the fault of the Internet. I'm just gonna be on the lookout for her next role.
