I dont think people go around screaming damn I hate dark skin but imo I could see the dynamic between dark skin girls light skin girls and Brothas and you can tell some feel some type of way.
Exactly. Growing up, it was always unspoken but it was there. It was obvious that the dudes would gravitate towards the light skinned chicks and that families/the community as a whole would treat them more special. The praise on good hair was always there also. I don't understand how anyone can't see that unless they have glaucoma and cataracts. Denial is real.
Girl sh*d. maybe not these days but when I was coming up (the 80's) dudes, women, aunts, uncles, neighbors, your 5th cousin twice removed had no prollem tellin folks to their face that they were "black as sh*t" "black as hell" "so black u caused an eclipse" "blue black" "black till you shinin'" "so black we need a flashlight to see u in the daytime" "u cute but u too black" "I'd date u but u too dark" as was told to my aunt in HS. Don't let u have short hair too? sh*t u might as well have killed yourself.
things weren't so obvious in the 90's because that whole cross colours, new jack swing, dookie braids, bamboo earrings at least 2 pair, c+c music factory was poppin' off so it wasn't in to say that sh*t in public but it was still there.
