Smh you are not lyin'.

Hope they let her wear it short or let her wear long naps. No need to give her straight weave.Ouch

You talkin' bout Hollyweird? Confused

No they're not. They'll never be tired of their preference and they will also never be tired of placing people on pedestals above African Americans

Why do you think Lupita is getting so much attention then. They can give us what they think we'll want, but that doesn't guarantee we'll want it. Lupita is reaching stardom above what many most black women have recently, and the main difference I can see is her hair and skin the way she carries herself. Sure they may put a lot of stereotypical women out there, but Lupita is the one we have chosen.

I like Lupita bc she's black and shining.
She doesn't ppl me in or anything.
Like I wouldn't go to a movie just bc Lupi is starring.
I'd go bc I go to black movies

Plus I'm still waiting to see what happens after awards season

Lupita is getting attention because she's flawless

If Hollyweird is so "tired of light skin and weaves" then there would be/would've been more Lupitas being praised but there isn't. It's just Lupita

Only time will tell if she's a fetish or if she ushered "change" as you insinuate

she's getting attn bc she's in a high profile film that is getting top honors all award season and is likely the winner of best picture at the Oscars after the bafta win...brad Pitt produced the film and with that comes star power and media privilege.  If she was in FOR colored girls no one would care.  Hopefully she stays afloat, gets offered the right jobs, and makes the right choices in future films

How many women (famous or otherwise) are out here doing what Lupita's doing though? These women are scared to leave their houses without their weaves/wigs. People feel like dark women should be ashamed and light is the thing to be. There is still a lot of judgment out here about hair texture (trust me I know), African is still used as an insult, etc. She is out here breaking all the barriers at once. She is shytting on these other black celebs out here just by being her true self.

L'upita....I get the feeling that u not gone catch her in no "black" movies.

@ lies.  I would put my head on a block to say that L'upita is gettin' the shine because she is not AA.  I can't say i've ever seen an AA actress being embraced the way she is...even the classy ones such as Bassett.

I'm sure you have AA actresses out here with her look but they don't have her background.  AA's that look like her...i'm quite sure they are turned away for looking too black while L'upita...because she is where she is from she is automatically seen as a different negro.  I'm sure if all the AA's actresses threw away their hair ...they'd get big upped but they wouldn't all of a sudden start pulling top bill in movie credits in Oscar worthy movies with an AAA-list co-star.

I feel like I can't articulate correctly right now.  *sucks teeth*  fucc it.  I'm just gone leave that.
