yes. I have said this b4. I have no problem turning in my child if they are in the wrong. Whether he is assaulting, raping, killing, using, selling, stealing, etc... He's got to go. Not all relationships are healthy relationships. Toxic ppl need to be dealt with accordingly

I'm not sure I believe they are truly suicidal... just another means of them trying to exert power and control... i.e., I decide the outcome of this, not the authorities...

Sometimes I think they have this inner struggle for supremacy that they somehow feel they have a birthright too. I don't think Black men are much different there. Men who need to feel powerful do it in different ways but it comes out one way or another whether it is promiscuity, violence, womanizing/woman beating embezzlement or something else. I think racially the pendulum swings from levels of severity but I think at baseline it's the same desire. To feel powerful. An attempt to validate ego. But really who knows. |
I definitely feel like that is the reason that more men tend to be violent. I find that men of all races are in a struggle for power and validation all the time, usually this struggle takes place within the home and stays within the home, with the victims being family members, spouses, close friends, etc. but then white men in these extreme cases take it outside the home.

Sorry...This sounds like she never whooped his ass as a child and
now that he's older, she's still talking to him like he's 3. Or maybe
he does have a problem and instead of the mother getting help for the
child when he was younger, she ignored it. Now that he's older, she
can't control him and she wont control him.

This is what my mother told us and how I plan to be when raising my son. She told us that if we are truthful, she's behind us 100% But if we get caught up in some stuff, she will be the first to turn us in.

Nah, I'd think about the preservation of my safety and my other children but I cant really judge mothers that don't...a mothers love is unconditional and by way of that it may also be blind, deaf, and dumb. Maybe the mother feels responsible and doesn't want to fail her son.

I ain't harbouring no criminal.... However
in the blog posted previously, the child had not committed any crime,
but rather displayed sociopathic tendencies.... I thought that was the
situation we were discussing.... which is why I thought your response seemed a little cavalier...

I'll look and see if there's a study compiled on mental illness and gun violence. |
These stats are a little alarming to me but I think it's funny that I still feel safer around a group of black people than in a fancy white neighborhood. I have seen other BHMers say the same thing over the years. And the studies about white men, mental illness and gun violence (in that combination) are fewer than this type of article right here and articles on undiagnosed mental health issues in the US

You bring up an important point bun! Self medication, people pf color definitely self medicate with a variety of things. I'm guessing more so than their white counterparts who if the feel the least bit mentally ill will get medication prescribed to them. Or at least that's what I think
