The only issue I've had with being a lefty is sitting in desks in college and writing. But I thought it was a known thing to turn the paper to the left to avoid curving your hand, but I see even Obama does the "curved hand" thing when he writes. Usually when kids are that young, they don't gain TRUE dominance until about 4-5 years old. I love being a lefty and wouldn't trade it for the world. My dad is left handed and smart as hell, but when he was younger in Haiti the teacher tied his left hand so he would be forced to write with his right. He can write with both hands but he usually uses his right. I've gotten used to using right handed things as a lefty. Oh well

It is thought that there may have been trauma during gestation or birth that causes a person to be left handed.

As a child, I thought it might be a good idea to learn to write with my left hand in case I have some sort of accident to my right. So now I write with both. Lol I don't know why I had those kind of thoughts, maybe cause I read a lot.

Also if you force a true lefty to use their right hand you can affect the connections in their brain. It happened to my dad. Lets say you're a true lefty and you're being forced to use your right, the connection from right to left is switched. So if you're using your left hand the connection comes from the right side of the brain. If your left hand is tied, then the connection now goes from right to left to right which can make processing slower. Recommendation? Let the lefty be a lefty.

The only issues I had with being left-handed was from dealing with people like you who were uncomfortable with my left-handedness.

I'm not saying this to be rude, but op, this is honestly a stupid thing to be bothered about.

For real. It's not even that serious. I could see if the child was color coding everything in sight, then yes that's a real problem. But hand dominance? Not a big deal.

When I use my mouse, I will use it with either the right or the left-handed functions.  I learned how to cut carefully using right handed scissors.  I asked classmates if we could switch seats so I could use the left-handed desk.

And no, I don't do that strange reach over thing that many lefties do when I write.  My dad, who is also left-handed, taught me how to write without doing that.

This. We're just as human as right-handers. We adapt with ease. LOL
