the combs!!  that's the first thing i take out of all of my wigs.  People lose their hair to those things..

Ouch

chile I ain't got no hair and I cut those out. They are irritating and can never be placed in IMO what would be optimal position for secureage.  Which would be towards the front. Because no. 1 combs can be seen at the hairline and 2 your hairline is not strong enough to support that kind of constant tension. I don't know anybody IRL who utilizes the combs in their units.

the bolded struck as very cute.LOL

It's the strangest thing, but when i'm reviewing new lace fronts on youtube?  Those ladies keep the combs in. The moment i see them "tucking" or inserting the combs into the hairline,  I cringe..Ouch

Even if they aren't using the combs, i think they would be irritating just laying on your temples - especially if you've tightened the straps to fit your head.Confused

The combs are bad for that thin hairline area for sure ... but the straps should not be 'tight'. That will damage the circulation of blood to your hair etc.

The straps should be 'snug' and the lace in front lays against the tape on your skin .... so your skin will not be irritated by the lace.

The tape you use my irritate your skin though - but you should use a skin protectant and there are a zillion sorts of tape on the market.

You just have to find one that will not irritate your skin. This will not take very long btw.

I found this is a good method instead of or to supplement the elastic band method for times when you want a bit more  hold or if the elastic stretches too much as it does with wear. Plus, I can never get my measurements just right with the elastic  so this is a great supplement. You can always modify a method rather than just criticize.

I am curious about the comment that the straps weren't "made" for hair. None of this is really. Fabric is fabric. I think it is about the tension.

Thanks again to the OP.

It's not about criticizing to be mean or something.  Those elastic straps will take someone's hair out. And I don't see the reason to advise someone to shave their hair to get a better hold for their wig.  That sort of advice is making all black wig wearers look bad out here.  U don't see other women with "healthy hair" shaving their head to get a better hold for their wig unnecessarily.

I also said that I'm not against innovation and new idea's.  A better idea IMO if you're gonna use straps use the satiny straps.  People use satin scarves because it doesn't dry their hair and take it out so why not satiny bra straps that will slide against your hair instead of suffocate and rub against it.  use the elastic for the temples for undetectability.  Sew the latex to the satin straps.  Use the satin straps for tension.

I'm sure the lady meant well...she went in the right direction but gave bad advice and used a material that would be detrimental to the health of people's nape.

it looks like a nice and neat method to use but I would use my clip underneath the band to cover up that plastic if I used that method...otherwise looks good
