Their lineage, IMO |
Then how are Afro-latinos not black? They're just as black as African Americans, their ancestors' ship just stopped before ours.

Doesnt "African" American suggest "African" decent and "Latin" suggest of "Latin decent. Sang..You said your Granddad was Cuban..right? But how many other Cubans are in your direct familial line? Ie..is your grandmother black? Is your other parent whose father isnt Cuban, Black? How about your grandmothers parents? If they both black, You black.IMO, If your lineage is primarily african American you black, If your parents are of two different races, You mixed Not Black and of course if the family tree is primarily white, you white. Ya'll arguing two different points with that whole how are there dark skinned latins question. Pure Races are long gone. I gotta pull out my history books and we can talk about slave trades and when which cultures traveled to which places blah blah blah. A 1/100 spanish brown skinned chick is BLACK. A sprinkle of some other ethnicity in a person family history doesnt make them eligible to claim said ethnicity.
Is there a difference between being African American and being black?

I'm descendant of American slaves. My grandma swears her mama was half NA, but she was probably a white lady....who knows. Anywaydoe.....Black = Nigguhs from Africa. There are black people all over latin America.

I could give two f*cks about Keysha Cole. I thought this was an interesting conversation and hoped to be able to converse with others about it. My name is Yumyum, I been coming to BHM for almost a year and I'm never on no dumb sh*t...Ask about me
