i think it's kinda messed up to say someone can't be on the list b/c of poor grades. non-compliance is a different story. you must take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of your life when you receive a transplant. so i totally understand how non-compliance plays a part in whether or not someone gets one. organs are not easy to come by. i have a friend who needs a kidney transplant and she's on the bottom of the list because she also has spina bifida in addition to failed kidneys. basically, a person's life "value" determines where on the list they fall. that term might be wrong, but that was the best way i could think to describe it.
and i'm sorry to say this also, but we (black people) are more noncompliant when it comes to our healthcare. i see it over and over again and in the case of minors, i think the caregivers should hold some accountability to it also.
