You know, I think Beyonce lucked out
She would've never been had she not had the 'white audience' warmed up to her with the success of Destiny's Child
And Destiny's Child would have never happened had it not been created in the right era (when boy bands and girl bands were acceptable and "in" according to the pop culture)
It took Beyonce a long ass time to become the entity that she is and I attribute part of that to her being Black
Black female singers (aside from Whitney) haven't never reached height she has and I believe Whitney is the only to do it in such a short time period. Usually that privilege is just left for the White pop stars

Well most artists are lucky in some sense.
They had to meet the right person, under the right circumstances, at the right time.
Nothing is in a vacuum conditions have to be right for most everyone to succeed

Y'all are missing the point in the op where she said groomed.
Matthew set up Destiny Child solely to prepare Beyonce for her solo career. Imagine if he treated all the girls equally. Kelly doesn't have to be Beyonce but she could be bigger than what she is now if he put as much effort into her career. We only have Rihanna and Beyonce, white america got B. Spears, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry who all get their shine. And about voices, the second verse of "check on it" was sung by Kelly. That's how similar Kelly and Beyonce's voices are.

I think what separates beyonce is the work she's willing to put in...everybody isn't willing to do what she does.
Kelly can barely be herself. It's been a decade since DC was at its height of popularity and she still hasn't found a way to really capitalize on her fame.
