Rihanna's performing is not why she's popular tho, unlike Beyonce
Rihanna makes hits that people love... say what you want to about her voice but half the songs she sings would sound boring and go unnoticed if they were sung by someone with a "better" voice
Plus her fashion sense, quirky attitude and personality and her boy drama is what makes her a brand

i dont think kelly could have been a beyonce.
i dont think she has the same sex appeal, voice, body, stage presence, nor other things
