I'm
just saying, the concept that black men prefer a woman who is super
curvy doesn't stop them from hitting on anyone with a pretty face.
| i think people should stop looking at others to validate themselves
people are superficial with fleeting moods..
im not shading.. but way too many people place their worth on someone else's opinion |
Although
I agree with you, we live within a mainstream and ethnic culture where
everyone is primed to pick you apart. As a black woman, you're
overloaded from birth with people telling you:
1. either you're
too dark to be pretty (oh you're pretty for a dark skinned girl) or
being prized for something superficial like being "light"
2. damned if you do if: your hair is too short, you use extensions, you go natural
3. damned if you: date out, wait for the coveted perfect black man, stay single and claim that you're cool with it
4. if you're too curvy you become a fetish (at times) for other races & black men as well to be objectified and sexualized
5.
if you're too small (by AA standards) you spend your childhood having
most female relatives and peers telling you how you're too small and
need to eat
6. By default bc you're a black woman you are
supposedly the least desirable subset of women in the world (mostly this
myth is promoted in the US)
So in short, women in general but
especially AA women face a barrage of conflicting messages designed to
tear you down. So, while of course you should totally be confident in
yourself (which I said in one of my earlier posts) as opinions are
fleeting, it is nice to get forms of outside validation from others.
