nobody wanted to pay? |
It's an American policy not to pay to recover captives. Europeans on the other hand will pay to get their people back.

The family can try and gather funds privately if they are able but the gvt won't interfere (other than trying to rescue them through intervention, that is). You're pretty much on your own in a situation like this.

Y'all think it's wrong for the U.S. to not pay?
I think it's dangerous if they DO. I'd think It'll make tourists a hot commodity, especially journalists..And as much as some groups hate us?..
Of course I understand how a family would plead for the US to pay though

I get the rationale for not paying but I'm uncomfortable with leaving these people out there to die. I don't know.
