Hello everyone,

I've been a lurker forever and even stepped out of the "weave game" for a couple years.... But I am BACK! After spending most of last year in Africa, mostly Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya, one of the things I have noticed is that these women DO NOT have access to quality hair that we have in the States.

SOOOOO

I'm taking a plunge and spending a substantial amount (my small savings) of money to start a hair company (hair, packaging, marketing, website- the works) in Africa and UAE. I cannot offer these ladies anything but the best and I want to be sure of who I order from.

I'm really in need of  great Brazilian, Peruvian, Indian, Malaysian, European factories, I need them like yesterday.

I know you ladies never reveal your sources, but I'm really praying for some help here. I'm disclosing this because I want you to understand I am not coming for your clients. I have more than enough contacts and clients in my own territory.

I am in talks with this supplier, but I can't seem to find any information on him. I want to order 10 kilos to start so I don't want to risk being scammed:

Thank you

Starting off with 10KG of hair is outrageous if you can't find any information on that company. Good luck finding a "Peruvian" vendor

If I were you, I would start off with a reputable CV. Then graduate to that point. Yes the women there do not have quality hair but that does not mean go for the gusto especially is you are unsure if the hair is gonna be worth the $10k. You can start with about 5 kilos of hair. 3 Brazilian, 1 Malay, 1 Peruvian. You can get all 5 for roughly 2k from a CV. If that proves to be a lucrative move then and only then would I look to invest more. Before you invest that much you need clientele, a good potential customer base and a solid reputation. These companies are here today and gone tomorrow, you need to make sure that you are gonna be around first. Also, once you do it others will begin to follow you and look to undercut you, as well as claim to have a better product. Last thing you want to do is invest 10k in bad hair and then have to return all your profits because you don't have a better quality to replace the bad hair. Then have another company with better quality running around telling everybopdy. IJS

Thank you. You're so right. I've found a vendor that "checks" out and I am excited about the hair quality I believe this vendor has. I'll feel the need to post an update after a few months when I receive, wear, and resell the hair.

Thanks again ladies.

I never asked anyone's opinion on IF I should start a hair company, neither am I concerned about being "outed" to the women I market to across Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa nor Dubai or Abu Dhabi. People should use the tools they have at their disposal, I did that. I received lots of helpful information via the board and PM and it's so appreciated. Thank you MizzSandra for your humble opinion anyway.

As a veteran vendor ,I would suggest that you invest only in the minimum sample order first! Test this out and then decide if you want to give a company MORE of your money because if you don't like the product, you are stuck with loads of hair you can't use, also i would read up on the different textures of raw hair because you will find that Brazilian hair really isn't Brazialian just another marketing name for Indian hair imported to brazil. My guess is that you will be delaing with Indians and Chinese suppliers which are all in (Asia)Godd luck with your new venture
