It may sound like a strange question / statement but I don't like my neck, never have. Why do some people get those horizontal neck rings early on (I've had them since I was a child) when others' necks are completely smooth as if they never turn their heads or sleep on their sides? I notice this with black women and men specifically.

Is there something that the ladies/men who have always had smooth necks do - like sleeping on their backs, anti-aging creams, for instance - that helps this or is it simply a matter of genetics? I know it's not necessarily weight gain or even age cause I see a lot of full-figured sisters/older women that don't have that problem.  Any suggestions besides an anti-aging cream (don't really believe in those)?

Can't find a pic for you Yaya but I know what you're speaking of OP. I don't know why some get them and others don't OR what to do about them. Sorry

if its what i think it is, it is because you dont wash your neck enough.
over years it will accumulate. you have to make sure to lift your neck and scrub! even exfoliate the dead skin cells . I have it but its slowly fading.

Kimora Lee Simmons has neck lines.
Kimora Lee Simmons (US TABS OUT) Designer Kimora Lee Simmons visits MTVs TRL at MTV Studios on July 15, 2008 in New York City.
They go around your neck and upper chest like....rings on a tree kinda. Usually like 3-6. I have em, but unfortunately I don't know how to get rid of them.

I didn't realize anyone had tried to answered this until now (sorry!). I meant neck lines, like the Kimora Lee picture

Oh I see now. At first I thought you were referring to dark rings around the neck. Yes the type of neck rings in the pics looks hereditary.

I wonder if you can have the lines/rings filled in with Restylane (sp). It's what they use to fill in wrinkles on the face.
