Topic: Is my toenail doomed for life? Posted: Mar 21 2013 at 11:32am |
Alrighty so I stubbed (and I don't mean a slight whimpy stubbing where the pain goes away in half a minute!) my foot/toes a few days ago.
It hurt, and my foot ached badly the next day. No damage was done from what I can tell I mean I can walk so I think I'll live. But I've noticed one of my toe nails is like bruised now? Just days ago it was perfectly fine. I don't know if it's possible to bruise a toenail, lol. But it is turning dark and kind of freaking me out honestly. I am not sure what I should do, or if this can be fixed.
Help me ;__; I am thinking I should clip it, but I mean my toenails aren't even that long as it is I don't like taking a nail clipper to already short nails.
Can someone tell me how I can fix this? My toe nail is gonna start looking like someone punched it soon I fear.

Is it black? It could be blood. It might go away or stay. I hurt my big toe and had it come all the way off. It grew back a-ok.

Omfg...the entire nail..?
And the nail bed grew back as well? wow I didn't know that was even possible.
It's not black, it's turned like this dullish dark coloring over my nails which usually look beige/pinkish I guess. >.<

The only thing coming off is the nail, the nail bed is the skin underneath. It'll take a few months, but the old nail should fall off after the new nail has grown enough to dislodge it.

It may be blood. I wouldn't clip the nail. I'd dip a towel in boiling water and gently place it on my toe for several seconds at a time. A remedy from the old country that works wonders.

It might not fall off.
I dropped a sheet of glass on my big toe once and this huge, ugly dark spot formed under the nail. Everyone kept telling me that nail was gonna come off, but it just grew until I could just cut the part of the nail with the dark spot off.
That was 4 or 5 years ago and that nail has been normal ever since.
