The whole caribbean say black when they mean a shade like milk chocolate. (We're fully aware that black is negro/Afro) but growing up everyone has a friend named Blackey.

As a matter of fact, one night our friend Blackey came to visit us. We heard his knocking on the door, asked who it was and he annouced himself. I was a child. I opened the door, looked around outside, heard the crickets, saw no one and slammed the door back quickly. Blackey knocked on the door again and say ay man I'm standing right here!! We all busted out laughing and hugged him. From that moment on I called him midnight. Told him to smile next time so I could see him. I miss him. Good times. It was all in love.

Either that or I would describe him "real dark skinned" if I was talking to someone I didn't know or I was trying not to sound ignorant.

I also consider myself brown skinned but I know when most people say it they a referring to a color lighter than me. But I feel like I am the typical color of a brown, dark skinned person. But I consider myself darker than average because I consider the average to be a peanut butter or toffee color like Usher.

LOLLOLLOLThis gif gets me every time.
