And neither does all this light-skin, dark-skin bullsht.

ETA:  why would a race care so much about lighter and darker skin if they weren't comparing themselves to Whites?  As "light" as whom?  "Dark"er than whom?  White people.  Think you need to recheck your cheek.

healthy minded ppl can use descriptive terms for people's complexions without it having any negative connotation...it's just a way to describe someone and i don't really like the idea of shying away from such terms because all of our shades are beautiful and should be acknowledged.  ppl with color issues make it extra complicated and a negative thing.

Whites got their own thing going on, such as "pale" vs "tan"

I'm like the same color as Kelly Rowland and I consider myself dark skinned but not black (doesn't anyone else use that word do describe human color?) I would consider Tika Sumpter black but know a lot of people would just say dark skinned. I would call Wesley Snipes black, not dark skinned. Either that or I would describe him "real dark skinned" if I was talking to someone I didn't know or I was trying not to sound ignorant.

I also consider myself brown skinned but I know when most people say it they a referring to a color lighter than me. But I feel like I am the typical color of a brown, dark skinned person. But I consider myself darker than average because I consider the average to be a peanut butter or toffee color like Usher.

Where is goodgirl? Can you use coffee pics too? A skin color thread is not complete without references to coffee.
